The camp was founded in 1977 by the Evanston/Skokie District 65 Council of PTAs. In 2023, Safety Town became an Illinois not for profit corporation. The 501C3 designation by the IRS is applied for.

The fee is $155/child when using a credit or debit card. You pay only $150/child if you send a check to 1003 Dobson, Evanston, 60202.

4 sessions are scheduled. A limited number of Scholarships  (50%) are available for campers who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Documentation is required with the forms.
